The environmental commitments, management practices and certifications described here are reported in Freixenet’s 2025 Statement of Non-Financial Information (EINF). At Freixenet, our environmental management is based on continual improvement, resource efficiency, circularity, responsible water management and emissions reduction. Our environmental management system has been certified to ISO 14001 since 1999. The certification scope covers the production of sparkling wines using the traditional method under the D.O. Cava. Freixenet has also been a signatory to the United Nations Global Compact since 2002, and has Ecovadis calification and Sustainable Wineries for climate protection certificate.

Renewable electricity and energy efficiency
100% of the electricity purchased within the Sociedad Freixenet reporting perimeter is certified as renewable in origin. We monitor energy use through audits and control systems and work to improve efficiency through measures such as more efficient refrigeration equipment and LED lighting.

Recovering value from wine-making by-products
We work to recover value from wine-making by-products. Wine residues are sent to an alcohol producer for recovery into alcohol.

Reducing materials in our packaging
Working with our suppliers, we reduce unnecessary packaging and the weight of our bottles. We also use recycled glass in our bottles; the proportion varies by bottle colour and is based on supplier information.

Certified environmental management since 1999
Freixenet has maintained an environmental management system certified to UNE-EN ISO 14001 since 1999. Within its certified scope, the certification covers the production of sparkling wines using the traditional method under the D.O. Cava.

Responsible water management
We monitor water consumption by section and machine and implement measures such as water recovery and reuse, more efficient nozzles and photoelectric sensors that help avoid water use when no bottles are passing through. These actions are part of our ongoing approach to optimize water use in our production processes.
